Located at 1419 Massachusetts Street, Americana Music Academy (AMA) is a 501(c)(3) arts and culture organization that has been offering music lessons and programming to the Lawrence community since 2001. The Academy was founded to pursue the mission to teach, promote, and support the advancement of all forms of American roots music and its influences, and to pass on the grand tradition of American-based roots music to future generations. Today that mission extends to include all kinds of musical repertoire and music making. Americana’s instructors teach voice, woodwinds, brass, songwriting, percussion, and piano, in addition to guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, bass, and harmonica.
AMA is committed to ensuring that music is accessible to everyone in the Lawrence community. In 2023, Americana Music Academy awarded $17,000 in lesson scholarships to students of all ages.
