FAQ

What does it cost to attend?

We want the Downtown Music Crawl to be accessible to everyone, so all events are FREE! Come and enjoy the diverse musical life of the Lawrence community.

Who would enjoy this event?

The Downtown Music Crawl is designed with all ages in mind, and we want it to be financially and physically accessible for everyone. So, whoever you are, please come! There’s something for everyone.

What’s the seating situation?

We will have a limited number of chairs at each site, so consider bringing your own blankets or chairs to sit on. The open mic site will be for standing audiences only.

Where can I find food and restrooms?

The location of nearby public restrooms will be posted at each site and in the event program. We hope you’ll take advantage of the many downtown restaurants and eateries as you mosey from site to site throughout the day. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome at music sites, but we ask that you be sure to pick up any mess you create.

Are the sites accessible for wheelchairs?

Yes — all sites are accessible.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, as long as your dog is leashed and is on good boy behavior.

Can I bring my instrument?

Definitely! Check the schedule for a full lineup of jam sessions.

How can I help? Do you need volunteers?

Yes! We have lots of ways that volunteers can help on April 27. Check out the Get Involved tab for more information or to sign up.

Will there be photography?

Yes, we’ll have a photographer floating around the event. If you post any photos, be sure to use the hashtag #lawrencemusiccrawl so that we can see!

What safety and security precautions are in place for the event? Are concealed weapons allowed?

We’ve notified the Lawrence Police Department about our event, and the new downtown foot patrol will be visiting each of our sites throughout the day. We have emergency protocols in place with all of our site managers, and we ask that no weapons be brought to the event. If you feel concerned or unsafe at any point, please let one of the site managers know.

Each site is equipped with a first aid kit. Please ask a volunteer if you have a medical need.

Thank you for helping make this a fun and safe event for everyone in the Lawrence community.

Is there a rain location?

Yes. We are putting the finishing touches on securing indoor sites in the event of rain, and we’ll post them soon.
